Mutant Genes Fear

Chernobyl , Ukraine - Wolves from Chernobyl Exclusion Zone or Chernobyl site were said to be roaming beyond the zone and fear to spread mutant genes because these wolves were exposed to a radiation-tainted land with contaminated plants and soil due to Chernobyl disaster or accident that spew radiation cause many people to die.

Chernobyl is a nuclear power  plant in Ukraine that experience a disastrous two massive nuclear explosions on April 26,1986 that release radiation "... 400 times more radiation than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima." (History)

"Wolves from the Chernobyl site have been roaming freely beyond the nuclear disaster zone's border.increasing fears that they will spread mutant genes."(SkyNews)

The fear is these wolves will spread mutant genes to animals outside the exclusion zone or the Chernobyl site and could affect humans who interact the animals outside the site.

Mutations could cause genetic disorder and could cause genes to malfunction.

"The raised questions as to the effect of wolves potentially affected by damaging radiation carrying mutant genes to pass onto other wolf communities."(SkyNews)

However, wildlife ecologist Michael Bryne said the spread of mutant genes is not something to worry about and there is no evidence that it is happening.

"We have no evidence to support that this is happening."(Michael Bryne/SkyNews)

"It is an interesting area of future research, but it is not something I would worry about."(Michael Bryne/SkyNews)
