Philippines - This year (2017) annual celebration of EDSA People Power Revolution will be different as the Malacanan said last February 21,Tuesday in a Palace news briefing.
First,there would be no "Salubungan" or reenactment of the union of forces that lead the Marcos administration end.
Second,there would be a change of date and venue;this time it will be on February 24 at Camp Aguinaldo which is formerly celebrated on February 25 at the People Power Monument in EDSA.
This year celebration will just be "simple" as Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra said but it doesn't mean they don't value or gave importance of the event.
"We just want to make this as simple as possible...Some people have been asking why the proposed program for the celebration of the 31st anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution for this year is rather sober,simple,no fanfare.It does not indicate that the present administration or the EPPC is giving any less significance to the celebration of the 31st anniversary...We have lined up a program for the next four days that would be simple enough but indicative of what we intend to do.The theme for this year's celebration is, ' A Day Of Reflection',and that's precisely the reason why there's no pomp in this year's anniversary celebration"
