Plumes From The Asteroid

Asteroids according to scientists are "....  rocky, airless worlds that orbit our sun,but too small to be called planets.Tens of thousands of these minor planets are gathered in the main asteroid belt,a vast doughnut-shaped ring between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter." (NASA); "... are minor planets, especially of the inner solar system.Larger asteroids have also been called planetoids." (Wikipedia)

However,if you behold an asteroid it is seems to be  a rock or stone that float in the space; a group of fragments of rocks floating in the space.

Recently, scientists were shocked or surprise upon the discovery of plumes from the surface of the asteroid name "Bennu".The activity was taken by a spacecraft release by NASA name OSIRIS- REx last December 31,2018 that will orbit the asteroid.

"The spacecraft entered into orbit around the asteroid Bennu, and made Bennu the smallest object ever to be orbited by a spacecraft." (NASA)

" " The discovery of plumes is one of the biggest surprises of my scientific career",said Dante Lauretta,OSIRIS-REx principal investigator at the University of Arizona,Tucson."And the rugged terrain went against all of our predictions. Bennu is already surprising us,and our exciting journey there is just getting started." " (NASA)

Bennu or asteroid Bennu is an object near our planet earth which is already since then but now upon the mission of OSIRIS -REx,scientists now thought that it is more older than they thought before; ".... they now estimate the object to be up to one BILLION years old." (Daily Mail)

Aside from the particle plumes erupting on the surface of the asteroid Bennu which is a surprising find they also found out that the surface of the asteroid ".. is riddled with boulders." (Daily Mail)

" " We study asteroids like Bennu to learn about the origin of the solar system.OSIRIS-REx's sample will help us answer some of the biggest questions about where we come from", OSIRIS-REx's observations also appear to confirm the presence of hydrated minerals all over the ancient object. It's thought that an asteroid like this could have delivered carbon-rich material to Earth long ago." (Daily Mail)

The spacecraft is said to return to planet earth on year 2023.
