Scientists
recently discovered 50 new confirmed planets from the data they analyzed on the
space telescopes of NASA such as the Kepler and TESS or Transiting Exoplanet
Survey Satellite. It was discovered from a machine learning algorithm or an
artificial intelligence technology or computer.
Before
the discovery scientists trained the algorithm to distinguish between true and
false.
The planets
vary from big to small and even size of planet earth or smaller than earth. The
discovery is said to be the first in the history of astronomy.
“The algorithm was able to statistically confirm the existence
of 50 exoplanets from the candidate data, ranging from diminutive alien worlds
smaller than the Earth all the way up to enormous gas giants the size of Neptune.
These worlds can now be targeted for follow up observations by more specialized
and powerful telescopes that will be able to determine the key characteristics
of the worlds.”(New Atlas)
“The
50 planets it discovered range from one as big as Neptune and another as small
as Earth, with orbits as long as 200 days and as short as one.”(The Next Web)
