Scientists
have recently found earth-like planet in size and can probably host life as in
it can hold liquid water and much closer to its sun just like our planet earth.
This could be the one the scientists are waiting for – Second Earth?
““This intriguing, distant
world gives us even greater hope that a second Earth lies among the stars,
waiting to be found,” Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of NASA’s
Science Mission Directorate in Washington, who was not part of the research,
said in a statement.” (Futurism)
They
name the planet discovered Kepler-1649c which is orbiting together with its
star in the habitable zone as the news said. Its star is called red dwarf. But
there is a problem that is it is really supporting life and what its temperature.
“It’s almost precisely the same size as large as Earth and receives 75
percent of the amount of light Earth receives from the Sun. In other words,
it’s a distant world that’s likelier than many others to support life. At 300
light-years from Earth, it’s the most similar to Earth in size and estimated
temperature out of the thousands of exoplanets discovered by the Kepler space
telescope, according to the researchers.” (Futurism)
“Researchers have discovered
a new Earth-sized planet orbiting a star
outside our solar system. The planet, called Kepler-1649c, is only around 1.06
times larger than Earth, making it very similar to our own planet in terms of
physical dimensions. It’s also quite close to its star, orbiting at a distance
that means it gets around 75% of the light we do from the Sun.” (TechCrunch)
