Novel Coronavirus A Hybrid Of Two Virus

Recently, scientists came to conclusion that SARS-CoV-2 or Novel Coronavirus which brought COVID-19 is compose of two separate virus or it is a hybrid of two virus or a somewhat chimera.

It says it comes from two different species that has brought to a process called “Recombination”. These two species are bats and pangolins according to the report or news.

Recombination is the combination and exchange of genes that could also happen to a RNA viruses according to the news which bring the combination of bat virus and pangolin virus.

“SARS-CoV-2 is most closely related to bat viruses and most closely related to pangolin viruses. It just depends on where in the genome you look.” (Ars Technica)

“This recombination mechanism had already been described in coronaviruses, in particular to explain the origin of SARS-CoV. It is important to know that recombination results in a new virus potentially capable of infecting a new host species. For recombination to occur, the two divergent viruses must have infected the same organism simultaneously.” (Science Alert)

The discovery could answer the origin of SARS-CoV-2 which brought the COVID-19 virus.
