Humor As Stress Reliever

 

Laughing under stress said can relieve one’s stress. If you put humor on everything which stresses you managing it would be a fun and not stressful.

A sense of humor can be an amazing line of defense when it comes to coping with stress. Unfortunately, stress is inevitable and you can't eliminate it, despite your best efforts. You can, however, better prepare yourself for stress with several coping techniques. Developing a sense of humor about life's challenges is a great place to start. A sense of humor will help you to build resilience to stress as well as improve your overall physical and emotional health.1 It will also enable you to: [1] bond with others,[2] look at things in a different way,[3] normalize your experience,[4] keep your relationships strong. Luckily, it's not too hard to develop a healthy sense of humor—but it does require a bit of practice.....” (Very Well Mind)

According to Psychology Today from humor expert Andrew Tarvin, there are he called “4Rs” in managing stress using humor. These “4Rs” are (1) Reject (2) Reframe (3) Relieve and (4) Refresh.

1.Reject – in this one must reject one’s stressors or how to manage stressors in humor way or how to eliminate things that stresses one in a not stressful way. Make the elimination or rejection fun and not stressing. Tarvin suggest to have a list of things that stresses one and how one can get rid of it. Reject means making the stressors not a stressor.

2.Reframe – reframing means making the stress not a stress just example if one makes one’s illness a humorous thing. If you “reject” then after you “reframe” the stressors or the stress.

3.Relieve – relieving the stress is letting it go and accepting it in humorous way. Relieve can be personal like taking a walk or taking a hot bath in order to let it go.

4.Refresh – refresh is putting everything out momentarily and just relaxing and recharging; have some fun and have light moments.

The main point : Stress is part of our lives and is a thing we face the world but managing it plays an important role; humor according to humor expert can help us manage it without being stress.
