Philippines – Yearly or annually
since 2007 in the Legazpi city in the Philippines, Valentine’s Day is not only
a day of the hearts or people in love but also it is a day for trees or plants –
a day to plant a tree. The annual activity is called “Lakad Tanim Para Sa Puso”(Walk
Plant For The Heart) and this year 2022 it is its 15th year.
This annual tree planting activity on
Valentine’s Day is brought by the region’s dark past when it was hit by a super
typhoon name “Reming”; this is to avoid floods and landslides.
Within the span of 15 years of
planting on Valentine’s Day, the city has already planted 100,000 different
types of trees within the different areas of the region.
