An industrial designer from
the Philippines have design a house that is typhoon-proof that is unique among
the typhoon-proof houses in the world. It is a cube house like others but this
cuboid house is different in design. The gutter on the roof is removed and the
walls are concave. This design will lessen the pressure of the strong winds
from a strong typhoon because the wind pressure is spread and the wind will
look for other flow in compare to ordinary house where the wind pressure is concentrated
on one wall. There are two prototypes that are built and erected at Purok 4 , San
Jose, Malilipot, Albay Bicol Philippines. The one is 36 square meters and the
other one is 48 square meters.
The Filipino industrial
designer is Gil Bien a Bicolano whose experienced as designer and experience
frequent typhoon attack on Bicol has led him to built a resilient house or a
house that is typhoon-resistant that could not blown away by strong strong bad
bad winds. He is a designer at the Dream Weaver Visual Exponents.
The design of the prototype
house is not yet open for public but is being on the way to make it accessible.
The total cost of the house is 1.8 million pesos and up.
