New Zealand- Recently, New Zealand
reports that it has eliminated COVID-19 within their country but it says “elimination”
doesn’t means “zero” cases but they are able to reduce the number into a single
number and that mean to them a victory over COVID-19.
“But because those new cases remain
in the single digits, the country’s leaders are still calling it a job well
done.” (Futurism)
“Ashley Bloomfield, New Zealand ‘s
Director General Of Health, said the low number “does give us confidence that
we’ve achieved our goal of elimination, which that never meant zero but it does
mean we know where our cases are coming from.” He added: “Our goal is
elimination. And again, that doesn’t mean eradication but it means we get down
to a small number of cases so that we are able to stamp out any cases and any
outbreak that might come out.””(CNN)
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda
Ardern said that COVID-19 or coronavirus is currently eliminated in their
country but elimination she said doesn’t mean “zero”; there may be small number
of cases and they remain alert or ready for new cases to come out that could
consider victory over the virus or coronavirus.
“New Zealand’s Prime Minister
Jacinda Ardern said the coronavirus was “currently” eliminated….” (CNN)
“”So as we have said elimination
means we may well reach zero but we may well then have small numbers of cases
coming up again, that doesn’t mean we have failed,”” (CNN)
