The Environment
Recent Environmental contests show
Filipino youth’s understanding of the preservation and salvation of the environment
on video-blog entries.
The contest name is “GeoSkwela 2021:
Negros Beyond Sustainability” which is a contest of the Energy Development
Corporation or EDC. Energy Development Corporation or EDC is the largest in
the Philippines as geothermal energy
producer and also the second largest in the world.
The contest is open to local youth
Negrenses or those youth on the Negros region of the Philippines. It is a
vblogging or video blogging contest about the environment preservation and salvation
or an encouragement of regenerative practices among the Negrense youth or Negros
youths.
The winners were based on the EDC’
evaluation with 80 % and Facebook votes with 20 % from EDC page or EDC’s Geo
24/7 page.
The winners are: (Grand prize of
P20,000 pesos) April Joy Locsin for her video about urban gardening, organic vegetable planting
guide, natural wonders of Negros Occidental and recycling.(Second place prize
of P10,000 pesos) Hans Cortes for his air pollution reduction and passion for
cycling.(Third place prize of P7,000) Mariane Joy Balotaolo of how she become
an eco-warrior after her experience of the typhoon Sendong wherein also she received
the People’s Choice Award for her most number of Facebook votes of P3,000 prize
worth of Gcash.
