Fake Paintings?

Germany - Recently,an auction in Germany stirred a controversy when it tries to sell a watercolor paintings attributed to be painted by Adolf Hitler which turn out to be fake or were alleged to be fake.They were failed to sell at the auction due to the allegations they were fake.



According to the report,this is not the first time an auction house in Germany sell a controversial items.The auction house is the Weilder auction house which sell the alleged fake paintings of Adolf Hitler.

"This isn't the first time the Weidler auction house has sold items linked to Hitler.In 2014, a watercolor of Munich's city hall,also thought to be painted by Hitler,sold for more than $160,000."  (Fortune)

The auction was held at the city of Nuremberg Germany at Weidler auction house.

"Held in the city of Nuremberg on Saturday [February 09,2019] at the Weidler auction house,the sale included several watercolor paintings with a starting price of $51,000, as well as items owned by the Nazi dictator,including a vase and a wicker chair with a swastika symbol,reports the BBC." "No bids were received on the paintings,which had starting prices of between €19,000 (£16,000) and €45,000(£39,300).according to The Nuremberg Nachrichten newspaper.The auction has been marred by accusations that the paintings are fakes.Confidence in the auction was knocked when three days before Saturday's sale.prosecutors seized 63 other paintings attributed to Hitler from the auction house to investigate allegations they were fakes.Last month prosecutors in Berlin seized three other Hitler watercolurs." The five watercolors paintings by Adolf Hitler failed to find buyers because of the allegations they were fake or in fear they ere fake.

However,the Weidler auction house said that it doesn't mean an item or items were withdrawn from the sale it already means automatically that it is already fake or were fakes.
