Scientists has been speculating and thinking that
life can exist on the clouds of planet Venus and the recent discovery of
phosphine molecule on the high clouds of Venus probe there is an aerial life on
Venus clouds.
“Astronomers have speculated for decades that life could exist in Venus’s
high clouds, and the detection of phosphine could point to such
extra-terrestrial “aerial” life.” (Royal Astronomical Society)
“On 14 September 2020, astronomers announced the
detection of phosphine, a potential biomarker, in the atmosphere of
Venus. “(Royal Astronomical Society)
The discovery of phosphine on Venus atmosphere or clouds according to
the news is large in amount compare what is produced on planet Earth.
“The amount of phosphine that has been detected is relatively large. On
Earth, phosphine can result from natural processes such as lightning and
volcanic activity, but only in small amounts. The only known processes that
produce phosphine on Earth in similar quantities are biological in origin.”
(Royal Astronomical Society)
It is suspected to be microbes that can survive the
atmospheric condition and the surface condition of Venus that produces the
molecule or the gas.
“But despite the inhospitable
environment on the surface [of Venus surface], some microbial life may be able
to survive in the planet’s atmosphere, the researchers hypothesize…….“The
discovery raises many questions, such as how any organisms could survive,”
Clara Sousa Silva, team member at MIT, said in the statement. “On Earth, some
microbes can cope with up to about 5% of acid in their environment — but the
clouds of Venus are almost entirely made of acid”…… Previous research has shown
that the clouds of Venus may actually harbor far more favorable conditions than
the surface, with temperatures in the range of 0 to 60 degrees Centigrade and
pressures — well within the range of Earth.” (Futursim)
It is said in the news that
the discovery of phosphine on Venus atmosphere make planet Venus include on the
list of habitable planets discovered.
“On Sept. 14, 2020, a new planet was added to the list of potentially
habitable worlds in the Solar System: Venus. Phosphine, a toxic gas made up of one phosphorus and three
hydrogen atoms (PH₃), commonly produced by organic life forms but
otherwise difficult to make on rocky planets, was
discovered in the middle layer of the Venus atmosphere. This raises the tantalizing possibility
that something is alive on our planetary neighbor. With this discovery, Venus
joins the exalted ranks of Mars and the icy moons Enceladus and Europa among
planetary bodies where life may once have existed, or perhaps might even still
do so today…… Venus is a compelling exploration target, with tantalizing
evidence that the planet once had oceans and perhaps even suffered a
hellish fate at the hands of its own
volcanic eruptions. But with the detection of a potential biomarker in
Venus’ atmosphere, we now have yet another major reason to return to the world
ancient Greek astronomers called Phosphorus — a name for Venus that, it turns
out, is wonderfully prescient.” (The Conversation)
The main
point :
Life exist on the clouds or atmosphere of planet Venus despite it is
said to be hot planet wherein there is no possibility that life could survive
on it. The detection or discovery of phosphine could mean planet Venus once have
life but died due to volcanic eruptions for example and has now become a hellish
planet.
