Personal care products like soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, lotion, moisturizer, etc.are inevitable part of one’s everyday living in the current generation but is that product or products you use everyday really do care you personally or the other way around?
Personal care products like
soaps or shampoos doesn’t come naturally they are processed and manufactured
thus one should be wary how it was made and what make of it unless you would
not bother to know and inquire.
According to health ranger, there
are five harmful chemicals or ingredients that are present on personal care
products sold on stores near you which you should know about for the sake of
one’s health in case you are not aware of them. These are (1) Phthalates (2)
Parabens (3) Triclosan (4) Formaldehyde, and (5) Coal tar dyes.
Phthalates
Phthalates is a chemical or
are chemicals mainly use to plastics thus called “plasticizers” to plastic
products more durable, flexible, transparent, and have long life. They are or
is present in hundred products and such examples are the personal care products
like soaps, shampoos, perfumes, moisturizers, hair spray, nail polish, eye
shadow, and cosmetics.
High levels of phthalates can
cause a greater risk of dying of any cause but most especially from heart
problem according to peer-reviewed journal Environmental Pollution published
last October 12,2021. Phthalates can disrupt sex hormone production or could
disrupt the endocrine according to some information.
Parabens
Parabens are or is a chemical
use primarily as preservatives in this topic to personal care products like
shampoo, moisturizer, lotion, shaving gels or creams, cosmetics, etc.
It is said that Paraben can
also affect male and female sex hormones and endocrine disruption.
Triclosan
Triclosan is a chemical with
antibacterial and antifungal properties that is present on soaps, lotions, facial
cleansers, deodorants, hand sanitizers, dishwashing liquid, toothpaste, detergents,
etc.
It is also said to be an
endocrine disruptor, efflux pump inducer, can cause liver cancer, can affect
hormones, and cause allergies.
Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is a
strong-smelling, flammable, and colorless gas chemical which is use as
preservative or present in shampoos, lotions, toothpaste, conditioners, shower
gels, deodorants, hair spray, cosmetics, nail polish, cleaning products, and
baby products.
It is known as human
carcinogen or can cause cancer on humans. It can also cause watery eyes, nausea,
coughing, wheezing, burning sensations of the eyes, nose, and throat; and skin
irritation.
Coal Tar Dyes
Coal tar dyes is a chemical
that has coloring capability and is created by combining aromatic hydrocarbons
thus it is said to have filled with chemicals.
It is present on cosmetic
products, shampoos, and hair coloring or hair dyes. It is said to be
carcinogenic to humans.
