FB Transcribes Your Chats?

It is believe that invading one's privacy is unethical or bad and that is what FB or Facebook was accused of lately.

Facebook was said to be transcribing audio chats of its users secretly by a third party or outside contractors which Facebook paid wherein they transcribes audio clips from users which contractors reveal.

"Facebook has been collecting audio from some voice chats on Messenger and paying contractors to listen to and transcribe it," (Business Insider)

But Facebook Chief Executive Officer or Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg never support the accusations.

"The social networking giant....has long denied that it collects audio from users to inform ads or help determine what people see in their news feeds.Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg denied the idea directly in Congressional testimony. "You're talking about this conspiracy theory that gets passed around that we listen to what's going on on your microphone and use that  for ad",Zuckerberg told US Senator Gary Peters in April 2018, "We don't do that.""(Bloomberg)

"Zuckerberg never disclosed that Facebook was sending recordings to third party contractors." (Futurism)

However,Facebook said they have only accessed to user;s microphones if the user allow or permit it so for voice messaging for example.

".... the company said it " only accesses users' microphone if the user has given our app permission and if they are actively using a specific feature that requires audio [ like voice messaging features.]" 9Bloomberg)

But in some reports,Facebook was seem to be admitting the practice and just recently stopped it as it told the Bloomberg but the purpose of transcribing is just to test their speech-recognition system.

"Facebook collects and has contractors transcribe the audio data to check the accuracy of its automated speech-recognition systems, according to Bloombeeg." (Business Insider)

" Facebook confirmed that it had been transcribing users' audio and said it will no longer do so,following scrutiny into other companies." 9Bloomberg)

"Facebook later told Bloomberg that the human transcriptions were being used to test the performance of its speech-recognizing artificial intelligence - a troubling admission that the company regularly violates people's privacy.Facebook told Bloomberg that it stopped the secretive project last week." (Futurism)
