Philippines’ Two 1,000 Peso Bill

Philippines – Imagine having a money with two different designs with only one currency. That is what the Philippine 1,000-peso bill will be upon the recent announcement of the bank of the Philippines or Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) that have made a new design for the peso bill yet the former design will remain. This means, the two 1,000-peso bill will be in circulation with each other.

The former design has the Philippine three World War II heroes – Jose Abad Santos, Vicente Lim, and Josefa Llanes Escoda on the front of the 1,000-peso bill but on the new design the three Filipino heroes were removed and replace by the head of a Philippine eagle. The removal of the three Filipino heroes on the front of the 1,000-peso bill draws criticism. The removal of the three heroes, as one criticizes, is killing again them and removing or erasing them form Philippine psyche or Filipino psyche which is more painful it is same fellow Filipino who remove them.

The Bango Sentral ng Pilipinas or BSP and the Malacanang have defended the new design, saying the new design will promote the fauna and flora in the Philippines but the former design will however remain in the circulation.

The new design and the new money is a polymer in nature or it is a plastic bill which is according to BSP is dirt and water resistant and more sustainable, durable, hygienic, and cost-effective. The new design will be issued next year 2022 April or May.
