"John of God" Arrested

Brazil -  The famous faith healer known as "John of God" which become famous because of his healing methods like psychic healing and miraculous surgeries by his hands was arrested earlier this December 2018 for a charge of rape and sexual assault by hundreds of women,as the report said.



Joao Teixeira de Faria or famous faith healer known in the name "John of God" was said to be sexually assaulting the women while they were seeking spiritual guidance and healing from him.

"He became a celebrity after his healing methods were featured in Oprah Winfrey's television show in 2013 and drew thousands of Brazilians and foreigners to his spiritual center in the small town of Abadiania, in the central Brazillian state of Goias. His fame has been boosted by supposedly miraculous surgeries he claims to have performed with his hands and without anesthesia." (Reuters)

But "John of God" deny the accusations and repeatedly said he is innocent,as the report said.

"Goias prosecutors charged Faria on Friday on four counts if rape and sexual assault,a spokesman said in a statement. Faria has repeatedly said he is innocent." (Reuters)

Women are not just only Brazilian citizens,some ".... include four women from United States,three from Australia and three from different parts of Europe." (Reuters)
