Bees In Her Eye

Taiwan - A 28-year-old Taiwanese woman identified as Ms He was found by a doctor to have four tiny sweat bees living and feeding tears on her left eye as the reports said.

The bees flew into her one eye which she thought it was just a dirt that entered her eye when a wind blew into her eye while she was pulling out some weeds on her relatives's graves for the annual festival.

"Ms He was weeding around the relatives' graves when the insects flew into her left eye.She was visiting the grave as part of the annual Chinese Qing Ming tomb-sweeping festival, which is traditionally observed by sprucing up love ones' graves." (BBC)

Then after her eye become to swell and felt pain she consequently seek medical help wherein the doctor found the four insects in her eye using a microscope and grab the insects out.

According to the doctor Ms He was lucky she did not rub her eye else she could have been blind which could induced the bees to produce venom.

The bees that are taken out from Ms He eye are still alive and have ".....been sent as specimens to another organization and will be studied." (Dr.Hong[Hung] Chi Ting of Fooyin University Hospital/BBC)

"The small bees known as Halictidae or "sweat bees",are attracted to human perspiration and are found all over the world. They are not usually aggressive and sting only if touched.Hung told the press conference that sweat bees commonly nest in the mountains and near graves which explained how they had come into contact with He [Ms He] " (The Guardian)

"...Experts says sweat bees are known to live near graves and fallen trees." (abc13)

The doctor and the woman at first thought it was an infection but shocked to discover the four tiny sweat bees on the eyelid of the woman's left eye.

The incident is the first to happen in the world as the report said.

The woman is now under recovery.
